TCSD's Sanitation Department is responsible for the collection of sewage from homes and businesses in Tam Valley and pumping it to treatment plants located in Sausalito and Mill Valley. The District maintains approximately 30 miles of pipeline, various manholes and cleanouts, and several pump stations, to convey effluent for treatment.

Private property owners are responsible for the upkeep of the private lateral (the section that extends from the home or business and connects to the main line at street level).
